Spilt Fruit I was sitting in the
kitchen talking with my Mother when during our conversation it occurred to me
that in the coarse of the last few years I had been
reading my bible extensively and as a result, I had become much bolder in
speaking with others about Christ. It caused me to realize
that you can not read Gods word daily and not have that spill over into daily
conversations either with the Lord or about the Lord. Thus the title, spilt
fruit. Have you ever wondered
how you might become a better witness for the Lord? Have you ever wished the
Word would just stick in your head and you could easily pull it up? I can remember when I had
prayed one night that the Lord would just magically put all of His Word in my
head and make it so I wouldn’t forget it. I even slept on my bible that
night, putting it under my pillow and wishing it would just absorb into my
head so I could better witness for the Lord. Well, as you would guess, I woke
up the next morning and didn’t know anymore than I did before I went to
sleep. But, the Lord did speak
to me. When I asked how can I memorize and remember your Word? He said “Read
it again” “and again” “and again.” Well, that is not what I
wanted to hear. I wanted it the easy way. But, I found myself developing a
stronger and stronger desire to be in the Word and became so addicted to reading
it that I found it more bothersome to NOT have time to read it than to have
to find time to read it. By reading His Word every
single day and studying it word for word (my Sunday school teacher taught me
to break each verse down and read each word not just the sentence) I
discovered who my Father truly is. I asked him to reveal his heart to me and
he did! My relationship has grown so deep that I know that nothing is
impossible so long as He is my shield and I dress myself with His Loving personality.
I have found that because
I read His Word daily that when I am questioned by others concerning the
Lord…..the Lord by His Holy Spirit can easily pull up all the information
that is needed to answer the questions because I have read it over and over
and over again. The Lord can not use His
Word in you to help others if you do not put it in there in the first place. If you think you don’t
have time to read your bible every day…..I challenge you to do just that and
see how your life will change. How many hours a night do you spend watching
TV? One? Two? Four? Take one of those hours and give it to the Lord in
prayer, meditation on His Word and actual reading of scripture and see how
the Lord will work in you and through you. Do you want peace in your
out of control lifestyle? Do you want to know what true love feels like? Then
rest in the Lord by spending time in His Word and I guarantee you will be
changed and your relationship with the Lord will grow astronomically. I used to be scared
to talk to people about the Lord for fear that I would not have an answer to
their questions. But, now I feel more and more the boldness of Paul to go out
and preach the Word of God to any who will hear it and show them the intense
LOVE God has for each and every one of us. This boldness comes from the daily
communion of prayer, worship, meditation and reading of His Holy Word. Do you want to know Gods
will for your life? It is in His Word Do you want to know Gods
character and what He thinks? It is in His Word Do you want to feel
peace, joy, contentment and safety? Spend time in His Word. Do you want God to reveal
Himself to you? It is in His written Word! The bible is alive!! It
will speak something new to you every time you pick it up. We are so blessed to have
such a wonderful, simple way of becoming intimate with our Father. When you
read, read with passion. Read with a true desire to know what is being said
to you. Don’t read as if it were a job or homework or drudgery. Remember, as
you sow, so shall you reap. Get your mind right first. Then come to the Lord
with a humble heart and ask Him to reveal Himself to you. Ask for the Holy
Spirit to enlighten you and make the Word clear to you. Are you ready to spill
your fruit? Out of the overflow of the heart does one speak.
What’s in your heart? Fill it with Gods Word so there is no room for the
world. Father, I praise your
Holy Name and thank you for providing us with such a wonderful tool to know
you in your fullness. Thank you for giving us a way to know your unending
love and for showing us the past, present and the future that we might be
prepared. Thank you for your many promises and for the blessing that you
promised to all who will just take time and read your Word. In Jesus precious name, Amen Your sister in Christ, Lisa |
