Just a closer walk with thee I would like to share
what has worked for me to develop a closer walk with our Lord. Much of it is a matter of
time. Giving up of our precious time to devote it to the Lord. First
and foremost, Worship! Worship him with the first breath you take. May your
first thoughts in the morning go right to Him.
Praising His name above all creation as our Creator. Then I begin with
Thanksgiving. EVERYTHING that is good
in your life is of God and deserves thanksgiving. Thank Him for the air you
breathe and that it smells good. That you are able to smell at all. Thank Him
for your health. Thank Him for every single thing you can think of. The feel
of the grass and the oxygen it give you, the abundance of water everywhere
that brings so much life with it. The sound of your child’s voice, the
softness of your dog’s velvet ears. Everything! Thanksgiving should roll
off your lips through out your day when ever something happens that brings
you joy. It is a kiss from God. Thanksgiving should roll off your lips even
when you are having a rotten day and nothing is going right. That is your
kiss to Him. The Lord says
Luke 11:9 Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and
the door will be opened to you. This is the key verse I
use to develop that close walk. Our tongue has much power in it. I want
to share some verses to show just how much power our tongue really has. Prov. Prov. 15:4 The tongue that brings healing is a
tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes
the spirit. Prov. James 3:9 With the tongue we praise our Lord and
Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in Gods likeness. In these verses we see
that our tongue can bless, curse, heal, crush, bring
life or death. We have to do all that we can to reign in our tongues.
Our tongue must stop being used for lies and deceit and start being used to
ask the Lord for His will in our lives. When we Ask, Seek and
knock. Our walk with the Lord is strengthened. Ask: the Lord to reveal himself to you. Ask: the Lord to forgive
you of your sins and name them. Ask: the Lord to fill you
with his Holy Spirit that you might have a better, fuller understanding of
His written Word. Ask: for knowledge Ask: for wisdom Ask: for His will to be
done in your life Ask: Him to remove from
you all worldly temptation and desires and replace them with His desires for
your life. Ask: Him to remove from
your personality anything that is displeasing to him and name them (jealousy,
hatred, lusts, coveting, hot tempered, selfishness and so on) Ask: for a hedge of
protection that God would surround you with His angels and block any
demonic hold Satan may have on you. Ask: to know His love in
it’s fullness. Seek: His will for your
life Seek: answers to
questions you have by reading your bible EVERY day. Seek: More time with Him Seek: those quiet moments
away from the world and relax in meditation about Him Seek: the Holy Spirit and
use Him for direction in your life (he is that still small voice you have
been hearing) Seek: restoration with
Him Seek: a transparent
relationship where you hid nothing from your Father. Seek: to put God first in
every area of your life. Knock: Now this one I
love! I speak out loud to the Lord and say..... I knock on the door of
wisdom and ask may I come in. (Now remember, He said,
knock and it shall be open to you) I knock on the door of
healing and ask may I come in. I knock on the door of:
insert your own: and ask to come in. Doors like peace, love,
joy, strength, power of speech, gifts of teaching, healing, and so on. But, most importantly,
ask to open the door to GODS heart!! and ask to come
in. You have already opened your heart and let the Lord in right? Now go to
Him and get to know HIS heart. Once you go through THAT door, your life will
change like never before. Knowing the Fathers heart is all that matters. Now, how to control the
flesh and make it submit so we can have a fuller walk with Christ is another
area that must be addressed. I find that fasting is the key. Fasting is the choice to
stop eating food for a period of time and must be done with prayer. I will
write an article on Fasting later. Fasting is an excellent
way to bring the flesh into submission. By controlling what it eats you gain
power over your "self". Fasting is done with prayer and
supplication. Every time you are hungry, it reminds you to pray. Each time
you pray, it brings strength to the spirit and mind. Once you can do a
three day fast with no food, you will feel such a sense of power over your
flesh that it will flow over into other areas of your daily life and you will
feel like you can conquer other problems as well. This is a short guide. If
you have questions, feel free to write me and I will elaborate where needed. Father, we thank you that
you desire a closer walk with us. That it isn't you we have to chase, you are
chasing us. We just have to slow down and remove ourselves from the world to
hear you. I pray Father that we will be confident that you promised if we
ask, seek and knock that you are there to hear us. Let our worship and
thanksgiving be sweet to your ears and our desire to enter your heart be
pleasing and fill you with joy. May every knee bow In Jesus name, Amen In Christ, Lisa |
